Note: Do not throw out any of your work until I have gone over it with you. This usually occurs 3 times a year after report cards. Remember, your paperwork is your "proof" in case there is a discrepancy in the grade.
“I.P.O.D. Binder” & Agenda:
I.P.O.D. stands for:
I'm Prepared & Organized Daily
I have “borrowed” the idea of the I.P.O.D. Binder from another teacher & the families I’ve worked with in the past have loved them!
It is one of my biggest goals to prepare 5th graders for the big changes experienced in middle school. organizational skills are taught everyday and I feel this binder is the backbone of our classroom.

- The agenda provided by the school will be checked EVERYDAY in order to give you a great communication tool between school & home.
- The agenda must be looked at and signed by the parent every day.
- Please ask your child to walk you through it during the end of the 1st week of school
Front pocket: Homework to be turned in that day
- The front pocket is where all assignments must be placed (unless otherwise instructed). If the assignment is missing it will be marked down as a "0".
- Make sure ONLY homework due that day is in this pocket. I will not check you binder if it is disorganized. This defeats the purpose of the binder.
- Absent or late work may be placed here.
Agenda: monthly page
Here you will find
- a log of any assignments including homework & test signatures needed that may be missing
- a stamp, happy face or teacher initial means everything is complete for the day
- A blank spot could be an error on my part or an absence. I usually catch these the next day. If you bring it to my attention I'd be happy to fix it :)
Agenda: Weekly/ daily pages
Here you will find
- Behavior
- a daily log of either green, yellow, or red behavior on the behavior chart
- an explanation from the student attached if anything below green is earned
- a teacher's note if anything below is earned
- students are required to write these down from my homework board everyday
Red Folder: Tests needing signatures or "keep at home work"
- Red Folder Wednesday: Located in the IPOD Binder, here you will find: paperwork that needs to be signed & returned by the following day
- An email detailing what is inside will be sent home
- Any work that may not need to be kept in the IPOD Binder
Students may lose out on a reward if they do not remember to bring back their paperwork signed.
Back Pocket: Homework Handouts for tonight
You'll never forget a homework handout again!
- Students are instructed upon receiving the homework handout to place it in the back pocket to make sure they have their materials for the evening.
